Buying a retro car in Europe is always an emotional experience and a serious investment. However, behind the shiny chrome, there is often a thick layer of putty, hidden rust, and non-original parts. A computer scanner won’t help here: classic cars require hands-on experience, knowledge of the models’ history, and attention to the smallest details.
We are located in the Netherlands (Apeldoorn) and personally travel to inspect rare cars, oldtimers, and youngtimers throughout the country.
What we check before buying
- Authenticity (Matching Numbers):We verify the authenticity of the chassis (VIN), engine, and transmission numbers according to factory specifications.
- Body and structural framework:We are looking for hidden corrosion, traces of unsuccessful restorations, and amateur welding. Using a thickness gauge, we detect putty under the paint.
- Bottom and frame:Mandatory inspection of thresholds, longitudinal beams, wheel arches, and suspension mounting points.
- Mechanics:We evaluate the engine operation, cooling system, and check for leaks.
- Test drive:Inspection of the transmission, clutch, smoothness of movement, absence of steering play, and engine operation under load.
- Documents:history of the service, certificates, APK technical inspection, and readiness of the car for export.
